You’re stepping into a season full of learning, growth, and new opportunities—but also one that can feel intense and overwhelming. As you begin your first year, we invite you to reflect not only on what’s ahead academically and professionally, but also on how God might be at work in the midst of it all.

Let’s take a look at some of the key moments in your First-Year MBA Journey—and consider how God could move through each one.

Year 1

  • Becoming a Student Again

    • Adjusting to academic rigor, managing competing priorities, and re-learning how to steward your time wisely are all part of this transition. Grace and intentionality go a long way.

  • Finding Community

    • Early in the journey, it’s essential to seek out your “inner circle”—whether Christian or not—who will walk alongside you, challenge you, and offer support throughout the program.

  • Looking for a Church

    • Even in a two-year program, being rooted in a local church provides spiritual stability and connection beyond campus life. Find a community where you can worship, grow, and serve.

  • Meet your Campus Staff!

    • MBA Ministry partners with more than two dozen student-led Fellowships across the country, many with dedicated Campus Staff Ministers ready to walk with you during your MBA journey. Don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re here for you.

Recruiting

  • Summer Internship Stress

    • The internship search brings high stakes—intense competition, long hours, and constant pressure. It’s easy to be overwhelmed. But even here, God is present. Learning to trust His goodness in the midst of uncertainty is part of the journey.

  • God-centeredness & Identity Issues

    • Business school often elevates performance, status, and comparison. In the midst of that, how do you stay rooted in your identity as a beloved child of God—apart from titles, GPA, or job offers?

  • Trusting God in career uncertainty

    • How can I trust God more as I job search?

  • Theology of Business School Teaching

    • What does it mean to see business school as formation—not just for your career, but for your calling? How might God use your MBA training to serve people, steward influence, and reflect His kingdom in the workplace?

Conferences

  • There are many valuable conferences out there—but this is one you won’t want to miss.

    • Believers in Business is the largest gathering of Christian MBA students in the country. It’s a unique opportunity to explore how God is at work in the business world—and how He might be calling you to be part of it.

      • Expect powerful keynote messages, meaningful networking, vibrant worship, and space to grow deeper in your faith and calling.

    • We also have a list of additional conferences throughout the year that could be applicable to you!

Leadership

  • As your first year wraps up, this is a great time to prayerfully consider stepping into leadership.

  • Whether you're building on the momentum of an existing MBA Fellowship or dreaming about planting something new, you're not alone—there’s a network of Christian MBAs and Campus Staff ready to support you.

  • Your leadership could help shape a community where faith, purpose, and business intersect for the year ahead.

Thinking About Stepping into Leadership Over you MBA Fellowship?

Spiritual leadership is more than just a résumé booster on your LinkedIn account or a feather in your cap. It’s a sacred opportunity to serve—guiding others in your Fellowship to grow deeper in their love for Jesus.

It’s not always easy. It takes humility, prayer, and perseverance. But it can also be one of the most meaningful and rewarding parts of your MBA journey.

MBA Ministry is here to walk alongside you as you step into this role with the resources below and staff support.

Still unsure if you’re the “leadership type”? Consider who Jesus called to lead.

Additional, MBA Ministry offers several opportunities to "Meet-Up" and brainstorm ideas together! We also have a database of speakers, mentors, and disciples to help for you and your fellowships growth. Find out more by contacting us or join the student leader monthly newsletter!

New Student Recruitment

  • The fall semester is one of the most strategic times for outreach—setting the tone and shaping the size of your Fellowship for the year.

  • Consider hosting welcoming events like a BBQ, a Kickoff Night with a speaker, or casual social gatherings to connect with new students and invite them into community.

  • It’s also a great time to help incoming students find and plug into a local church, laying the foundation for both spiritual and relational growth during their MBA journey.

Outreach

  • MBA students are busy—but that doesn’t mean they don’t need Jesus.

  • As you build Christian community, be mindful not to form a “holy huddle.” Look for ways to create spaces where students who don’t yet know Jesus feel welcomed and included.

    • Start Simple: Host low-barrier events like BBQs, ice cream socials, club fair booths, or casual coffee meet-ups to meet new students and build relationships.

    • Go Deeper: Plan occasional events with a clear missional focus—such as inviting a speaker to share a Christian perspective on a relevant issue or ethical dilemma in business. These can spark curiosity and open the door to meaningful conversations about faith.

  • Creating a culture of invitation reflects the heart of Christ—and it’s one of the most impactful things you can do during your MBA journey.

Develop Community

  • Creating space for meaningful relationships is essential for spiritual growth during your MBA journey. Here are a few ways to foster community throughout the year:

    • Cultivate Connection: Host small groups, book studies, or informal meet-ups on campus to create consistent rhythms of shared life and faith.

    • Accelerate Community: Deepen bonds by organizing a retreat, attending off-campus events, or joining conferences like Believers in Business.

    • Pursue Accountability: Form smaller accountability groups to encourage one another in godly living, prayer, and personal integrity.

  • Intentional community doesn't happen by accident—but when it’s cultivated, it can transform your entire MBA experience.

Handoff

  • As your time in leadership comes to a close, one of your most important responsibilities is setting up the next generation to thrive.

    • Identify New Leaders: Look for those who show spiritual maturity, teachability, and a heart for serving others.

    • Equip and Empower: Walk alongside them, share what you’ve learned, and give them opportunities to grow into the role.

    • Finish Strong: Lead with excellence to the end. Your faithfulness now will leave a lasting impact.

  • Handing off leadership well ensures that the Fellowship continues to be a place where students encounter Jesus and grow in community.

One year down, another year to go!

Whether you’re coming off a meaningful summer internship or feeling the pressure of still searching for the right opportunity, take heart—God is at work in this season.

As you head into your final year, we invite you to seek Him intentionally and invite Him into the everyday moments—your classes, your job search, your relationships, and your rest.

This year is not just about finishing strong—it’s about walking with God through it all.

Year 2

  • Full-Time Job Search Stress

    • Even for those with return offers, the full-time job search can bring fresh waves of anxiety and pressure. Many of the same faith and identity questions from the first year resurface: Where is my worth? Who am I if things don’t go as planned? This is a season to anchor deeply in God’s calling and provision.

  • Leading & Mentoring First-Years

    • As a second-year student, you have a unique opportunity to guide and invest in those just starting the journey. From practical advice to spiritual encouragement, your presence can help new students find their footing and flourish—both in business school and in faith.

Offer Season

  • Prayer for Wisdom & Discernment

    • As you consider job offers or discern next steps, take time to seek the Lord. Ask questions like: Which role will allow me to glorify God? How will this decision impact my walk with Him, my family, and my long-term calling? Invite God into the process—He cares deeply about where you land.

  • Navigating Job Search Stress

    • If you're still searching while others are celebrating offers, it can be easy to doubt God’s timing and provision. The waiting season is hard—but it’s also sacred. Keep your heart anchored in trust. God has not forgotten you, and His plan is still unfolding.

Reflection

  • Celebration

    • Those who have jobs breathe a sigh of relief and want to celebrate! Being thankful to God for providing for me.

  • What did I learn?

    • What did I really take away from business school about: business, people, God, and myself?

Graduation

  • Your MBA journey may be complete—but your faith journey continues.

    • There are always new opportunities to connect with brothers and sisters in Christ in your workplace, city, and beyond. Stay rooted in community, continue growing in your calling, and seek ways to live out your faith wherever God leads you next.

You've done it! You have completed your program!

While the journey to your MBA is complete, the journey of seeing God work through your life and vocation is just beginning.

And best of all—you’re not alone. You may be leaving one community, but others are ready to walk with you. Whether it’s a local church, a workplace fellowship, or the broader Christian MBA Network, community and support are still within reach.

Step forward in faith, knowing that God goes with you—and so does a network cheering you on.

  • Grow in Prayer: Cultivate a rhythm of praying for yourself, for others, and for God’s work around the world.

  • Practice Generosity: Consider giving faithfully to your local church, your campus ministry, or other redemptive ventures that advance the gospel.

Your MBA was just the beginning. Let your life—wherever God places you—reflect His love, wisdom, and purpose.
